He had a retrospective in Paris in 2003 i think and i went along. This pic was from a french magazine that i can't remember the title of.

Was getting a bit bogged down with this one. A few knots to untie next time.

Work in progression

Been reminded of Basil Beattie's work lately. Not his recent stuff but work in the mid 90's. Remembering I saw an exhibtion in Sunderland of his about 1996/7. Big vast canvases, thick oil and wax medium. Fields of earthy flat colour and triangular structures set out on the surface.
